Turbine Crank

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EgQQzU9A7bs&NR=1

A simple exhibit designed to show how a hydroelectric turbine works. Exhibit engineering and fabrication by Universal Services Associates (USA), Inc.

Stepping Stones

A sketch of possible museum exhibits. The exhibits were designed by architects for a children's museum. The overall exhibits are nicely detailed, but I feel there is no interaction between the children/person and the exhibit.

Look at those kids have fun!

So a youtube video showing an exhibit where small children play with water turbine that powers green lights. Perhaps our exhibit can follow something similar. The creator of the exhibit was Tom Lindsay Designs.

Energy Kids

I stumbled upon a website that contains information for renewable energy. The website is aimed at children and has information about geothermal, wind, waves, and water electricity. Check it out, it may be useful.

Videos on how hydroelctric power works

check out the following website to see how hydroelectric power works

another youtube video on a young inventor who was able to take rain energy and turn that into a charging device

video that is able to explain the items that have to go into a hydroelectric generator

this is similar to what i have in mind for our project just on a smaller scale.

Small Hydro Electric Generator

A very clear detail video of a small hydro electric generator in action. The video is a good reference for the amount of space the generator takes. We can even try to recreate the generator and modify it for our needs.

Hydroelectricity

A hydroelectric turbine exhibit in India. Very similar to what we want to do, but I feel that the exhibit fails to show the electricity aspect involved.

Findings from the weekend

OK everyone so one of my teammates was unable to post the follwoing information up onto this blog today so I am going to do it for her.
This is all findings of similar projects, musuems, and etc that are similar to our project that we are doing ourselves.

Go to this website to check out a hydropower engineering museum webiste over in Russia!

the next two are have pictures you can look at that might give you some ideas of how to get people interested in your own work.

this next one is also a good one to look at if you want to get visitors attracted to your site

This webiste brings you to a musuem over in Signapore where they showcase off the latest technology that makes life easier. Another good website to see how we can get younger kids interested in the science and engineering fields.
